If you’ve had your blood drawn recently, you may have been shocked to find out that you’re low in vitamin D3. It’s not uncommon for even those who are otherwise considered healthy to have low levels of vitamin D3, just ask our co-founder Greg Bulgarelli, a lifelong health nut. Seven years ago, he was working as a supplement sales rep for another company when he had routine blood work done and found out he was severely deficient in vitamin D.
Study after study shows over 40% of the population is deficient while over 60% have insufficient levels. Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most common deficiencies in most countries. And if you have a darker complexion, the percentages of the population that are deficient increase to 69% for Hispanics and over 80% for Black Americans. Those with darker skin absorb less UV light from the sun. This makes it more difficult for our bodies to synthesize vitamin D. Supplementation is even more important for those with darker skin.
It is no surprise that vitamin D supplements have become one of the most sought-after supplements for a growing percentage of the population.
Vitamin D helps with strong bones, skin protection, skin cell growth, repair, and metabolism. It boosts the skin’s immune function to destroy free radicals that can cause premature aging. It is the only vitamin that functions as a hormone. It improves cognitive function. It can help prevent some forms of cancer, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, obesity, psoriasis, and psychiatric diseases. It even regulates insulin levels. As you can see, it’s extremely important to maintain overall health.
Vitamin D3 appears to raise levels of active vitamin D more effectively in the body, which is why it is frequently recommended by healthcare providers. Yet, so many struggle to maintain the needed levels of Vitamin D3. Often referred to as the sunshine vitamin, many have lower levels of vitamin D3 due to spending less time outdoors than previous generations since many now work indoors. When the skin is exposed to the sun, it manufactures its own vitamin D. Since most of us aren’t in the sun as long as needed, we have lower levels. A diet that doesn’t have enough foods containing vitamin D3 is another leading reason your levels may be low. Supplements are often needed to ensure your body maintains the proper levels of vitamin D3.
Our Live Wise Naturals team is excited to announce the launch of an extension of our best-selling product, Vitamin D3+K2. The newest in our line of vitamin D3 products, “Live Wise Naturals’ Vegan Friendly D3+K2” is a soy-free and lanolin-free version that is not available anywhere else in the market today.
Unlike other supplements in this space, the new formulation of Live Wise Naturals’ Vitamin D3+K2 derives its D3 from algae and its K2 from chickpeas.
Our testing shows that algae-based D3 is better absorbed in our bodies than lichen. We need 1.3 - 1.5 times more lichen-based D3 to bring up and maintain our levels of D3 in our bodies as we do when we use the algae-based source of D3. Equally as important, the algae source is truly sustainable and grown in a controlled environment.
Most brands of D3+K2 vitamins available in the market today source their K2 from Natto, a traditional Japanese dish of fermented soybeans. For those who need to avoid soy due to health reasons, our chickpea-sourced K2 is an excellent solution.
Without K2, vitamin D3 absorption is not optimal. Vitamin K2 is essential for bone health and calcium absorption is greatly enhanced when D3 and K2 are used together versus using D3 on its own. Vitamin K2 directs calcium to your bones and teeth where it’s needed. Otherwise, it may be absorbed in areas of our body where you don't need it like your joints, arteries, and organs.
Our newly formulated D3+K2 contains 25mcg (1000IU) of vitamin D3 and 36mcg of 100% trans vitamin K2 (MK-7) per serving. It was designed for those who are looking for supplements that have superior absorption, are vegan-friendly, 100% plant-origin vitamin D3, certified kosher, halal-certified, allergen-free, soy-free, and are more environmentally sustainable than other brands in the D3+K2 market.
For those who do not have those concerns and are seeking an affordable, high-quality D3 option, don’t worry. Our original formula isn’t going anywhere. Our goal in offering the new formula is to provide vitamin D3+K2 solutions for more people with a variety of needs.
Liquid drops are the fastest, most efficient pathway into our bodies. Liquid vitamins also make it easy to adjust the serving size. Many ingredients in supplements that are taken in pill form aren’t necessary and actually aren’t good for your body. They are included as fillers and flow agents. Live Wise Naturals makes all of our vitamin and supplement formulas in liquid form. We do not use any fillers or flow agents, synthetic preservatives, dairy, added sugars, binders, flavoring, or dyes. All of our vitamins are non-GMO, gluten-free, and use organic, cold-pressed oils.
Additionally, all of our products use amber glass bottles and glass droppers, so there is no need to worry about plastic leaching into your supplements.
